What is the Bridgend Employment and Skills Project?

Bridgend Employment and Skills Project (BESP) is funded to work with anyone aged over 16, unemployed or working less than 16 hours a week who live in Bridgend Communities First postcode areas.

Part of the Welsh Government funded Bridgend Communities First programme, we work closely with local employers and Department for Work and Pensions, providing FREE training and support to help you become job ready and to gain sustainable employment.

Free training and support

We can help you gain employment skills to seek work and apply for jobs. Some of the FREE training and support we can offer you


  • Confidence building;
  • Communication skills;
  • Customer Service;
  • Creating or updating your CV;
  • Writing cover letter and effective job applications;
  • Interview skills and preparation;
  • First steps in IT;
  • Manual handling;
  • Food Safety Level 2.

Would you like to improve your English and Maths skills?

Are you finding it hard to get a job or go on a course because of poor reading, writing and spelling? We can help! We have tutors who can work with you on a one-to-one basis to help improve your English and Maths. Tutors work in a friendly and relaxed way and develop a personal learning plan to help you achieve what you want.

Guaranteed interviews with employers

We can give you the skills that employers want! Throughout the year, BESP hold frequent information and assessment days followed by a three or four day programme of training culminating in guaranteed interviews for all completing candidates in areas including:

  • Retail;
  • Hospitality;
  • Care;
  • Customer Service and Call Centres;
  • Cleaning;
  • Office administration.
