Shelter Cymru

Shelter Cymru is a people and homes charity for Wales. They believe that a decent secure home is a fundamental right and essential to the health and wellbeing of people and communities.

They provide independent specialist advice, advocacy and legal representation for anyone with housing problems. Shelter Cymru’s advisers provide face-to-face and online help to prevent homelessness.

Through their campaigning, research and policy work they influence the legislative agenda relating to housing and homelessness in Wales, while their education service aims to prevent homelessness by working with young people and providing detailed teaching and learning resources.

Although Shelter Cymru works closely with their sister organisations in England and Scotland, they are a completely independent charity and focus entirely on the needs of people in Wales

Wales Illegal Money Lending Unit (WIMLU)

Wales Illegal Money Lending Unit (WIMLU) targets illegal money lenders, more commonly known as loan sharks. The unit looks into illegal lending and any related crimes as well as supporting victims.

Illegal lending is a criminal offence. Illegal money lenders operate without a license, often targeting vulnerable people. Loan sharks start out friendly, but their behaviour changes when payments are missed and often take cash cards/post office cards and pin numbers as collateral for loans.
