Bridgend Communities First recently hosted two free learning mornings in Bryncethin and Maesteg. Over 50 people enjoyed a variety of taster sessions based around future courses including first aid, flower arranging and up-cycling.

Two ladies who attended the morning in Bryncethin said: “We thoroughly enjoyed this morning and we will now be checking the website for other learning mornings, courses and activities.”

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed learning new skills with many people signing up for future Bridgend Communities First courses to improve their employability skills.

At the learning morning in Maesteg a group from the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust came in to take part in some of the taster sessions. The young adults in the group got involved in the cardiopulmonary resuscitation demonstration and as a result a training session was set up a few days later for them to complete the QA Level 2 award in basic life support and safe use of an automated external defibrillator.

One of the participants said: “I am very pleased that I am getting a qualification for first aid. I can try and save someone’s life if needed.”
